Kenya Advances Circular Economy Agenda
The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry through the State Department for Environment and Climate Change is undertaking public consultations on the National Circular Economy Strategy and Implementation Plan (CESIP) 2026.
Consultations have so far been held in Nairobi, Kisumu and Nakuru Cities, bringing together government, private sector and other stakeholders to strengthen Kenya’s transition from a “take–make–dispose” model towards a circular economy.
Key areas of focus include waste reduction, reuse, recycling and resource recovery, sustainable waste management, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), organic waste management, green jobs, circular businesses and markets for secondary materials.
The consultations will help ensure that the CESIP has practical, measurable and inclusive actions that strengthen implementation of Kenya’s Sustainable Waste Management Act and EPR framework.
Together, we are moving Kenya towards a cleaner, resource-efficient and circular economy.
