Mau Forest Complex Integrated Conservation and Livelihood Improvement Programme (MFC-ICLIP)

Mau Forest Complex Integrated Conservation and Livelihood Improvement Programme

The Mau Forest Complex Integrated Conservation and Livelihood Improvement Programme (MFC-ICLIP) is a ten-year initiative under the patronage of Dr. Eng. Festus K. Ng’eno, Principal Secretary for Environment and Climate Change. Covering approximately 317,115 hectares across four Mau Forest blocks and surrounding farmlands in Nakuru County, the programme seeks to restore degraded ecosystems, conserve biodiversity and improve community livelihoods.
Over ten years, the programme targets the restoration of 33,138 hectares of forest, growing approximately 40 million tree seedlings, rehabilitating 668 hectares of wetlands, restoring 143,803 hectares of agricultural landscapes and creating at least 100,000 green jobs. The programme is expected to strengthen climate resilience, protect vital water catchments, enhance sustainable livelihoods and contribute to Kenya’s 15 Billion Trees Programme.
