Review Public Comments on the Draft National Environment Policy 2026

The State Department for Environment and Climate Change will convene a six-day review of public comments on the Draft National Environment Policy 2026 from 2nd to 7th November 2026 in Naivasha, Nakuru County. The exercise will bring together the Technical Working Group (TWG) and key stakeholders to examine, consolidate and incorporate feedback received during the October 2026 public participation process, as part of efforts to update the National Environment Policy 2013.

The review will focus on refining the draft policy to address emerging environmental priorities, including climate change, biodiversity conservation, pollution control, circular economy, carbon markets and environmental governance, while aligning it with the Constitution of Kenya and evolving national and international commitments. The revised draft is expected to proceed to a national validation conference in November 2026, with the overall review process targeting completion by 12th December 2026.
