Launch of National Circular Economy Strategy and Implementation Plan (CESIP) 2027–2032
The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, through the State Department for Environment and Climate Change, will on 24 November 2026 launch the National Circular Economy Strategy and Implementation Plan (CESIP) 2027–2032 themed “Transforming Waste into Wealth for a Sustainable, Resource-Efficient and Prosperous Kenya,” the strategy seeks to accelerate Kenya’s transition from a linear economy, where resources are used and discarded, to a circular economy that prioritizes waste prevention, reuse, repair, recycling and resource recovery.
The CESIP aims to transform waste into an economic resource by promoting green investment, innovation, job creation and sustainable livelihoods while reducing pollution and pressure on natural resources. It prioritizes five sectors: agriculture and food systems, plastics and packaging, electrical and electronic equipment, textiles and apparel, and mining, quarrying and construction. Its successful implementation will require coordinated efforts by national and county governments, the private sector, development partners and communities to strengthen waste management systems and advance a cleaner, more resource-efficient and prosperous Kenya.
